Three Strategies for Finding a Job
I give this advice out a dozen times a day. So often that I have it in a document so I can cut and paste it to all the candidates that cold call me or send unsolicited resumes.
First, leverage your professional network for job opportunities. Roughly 85% of all job leads are referrals from your existing professional network.
Second, work with an Executive Recruiter that specializes in your industry. Preferably one you have an existing relationship with. Roughly 10% of all job opportunities come from Executive Recruiters. If you don’t know a good Executive Recruiter, ask your peers who they use and like. If you can't relocate, utilize an Executive Recruiter IN YOUR CITY. They will have the local job opportunities.
Third, and as a last resort, check www.indeed.com for leads, but only if your base salary is under $100,000. Not a fan of online job posting, however occasionally there is a good opportunity there at the lower levels.
